Dan Spiers, Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Dan is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of 2020 Environmental Group and leads the firm’s M&A practice. Over the 16 years with 2020, Dan has now advised over 145 environmental and engineering companies on their M&A initiatives and worked on 45 M&A engagements.

Dan leads all aspects of 2020’s sell- and buy-side M&A engagements.  This includes M&A marketability and financial analysis, market valuations, preparation of confidential information materials (CIM), management of the sale process with buyers and sellers, LOI offer and deal negotiations, and supporting the due diligence and close process.  Dan has developed an extensive professional network in the AEC industry with connections to over 1,500 companies and their executive management across North American and internationally.  He is a frequent presenter on M&A at the Environmental Business Journal’s Industry Summits in San Diego, Seattle, and Boston.

Prior to starting 2020, Dan spent more than seven years with some of the largest strategy consulting firms in the world. This included Senior Account Executive with Weber Shandwick in Washington D.C.

Dan received his Masters in International Law with an emphasis in Environmental Law from University of New South Wales in Australia, completed the UC Berkeley Executive Program in M&A and Finance, attended London School of Economics (LSE) Strategic Marketing Program, and received his B.A in International Relations from University of California Santa Cruz.

Dan is based in Issaquah (Seattle) WA where he lives with his wife and twin daughters, enjoys golf, marathon running, and international travel.
