Al Spiers is Founder and CEO of 2020 Environmental Group, a management consulting and M&A advisory firm focused purely on the environmental industry. Since founding the firm in 2010, 2020 Env has advised over 100 environmental and AEC firms across the United States and internationally on their strategic growth, ownership transition, and M&A plans. This includes serving as M&A advisor on more than 45 sell-side and buy-side engagements. Prior to forming 2020, Al spent 35 years managing and building some of the United States' most well-known environmental and engineering firms-notably as SVP for Entrix, Corporate Vice President for Dames & Moore/URS, Division VP for Ogden Environmental, and CH2M Hill. While heading up 2020 Env, Al also served on ESA’s Board of Directors from 2015-2025. He holds a B.S. in Biology/Chemistry from Lakeland University, an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, and Executive Management Programs at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Al also served as a Guest Lecturer at Stanford University's Graduate School of Engineering on the subject of “Crossroads between Energy and the Environment.”
